I am a somewhat reluctant user of Facebook, but how do I "unfriend" someone ? ( I have someone used to know years ago and he keeps posting racist comments ! )

For such a keen debater, I'm surprised you'd give up on someone so easily, rather than try to turn them around.

If we are each the sum total of our inputs: the media, friends and relatives then one more person cutting them off from the land of broad-minded views just makes it more likely that they will drift further towards the cesspit, seeing as how only like-minded people, or worse, will have time for them.

Dont know why mikey, if its used in the proper way its fine.

Since I have been on it, I have found four of my deceased brothers family, a few from my school days, and old friends I had lost contact with.

If you don't want it then don't use it.

I don't want it so I don't it. Have only used it once ant that was when somebody in America with a similar email to mine set up an account and used my email. (Their email should have had numbers after it, mine doen't and they forgot to use the number)

I did a password reset request, went in, told their relative what they'd done then deleted the account.

Hypognosis....as you can probably guess, I am far from being a shrinking violet when it comes to dealing with racists ! But if I get one more link, extolling the virtues of the EDL and Britain First, I shall drop the keyboard and come out shooting !

trt...you are right of course. But I have used Friends Reunited and found some old school friends that I have seen since I was 9 years old ! But that site has gone very quite of late...perhaps FB has taken over the world !

I agree with ummmm, I have used it for about 12 years and never had a single problem.

Perhaps I have been too generous and naive about granting "friendship" in the past.

The downside is when people post without thinking. My granddad died at 2am. When I got up at 6am it was on facebook. Very inconsiderate. A lesson learned though...I always check my phone before opening facebook.

I think now I can understand mikey why you get so much junk mail. You are a Facebook member and have lost your privacy.

I use a throwaway email. Facebook notifications keeps it active.

You don't have to lose your privacy using facebook. You are not obliged to fill in all the information.
