I have some ransomware on my iPad (this is my virus-free desktop.) The 'close x' doesn't work, nor does turning off and on. Is there a reset function?

Thanks for answering. I'm afraid I'm not technically proficient enough to know how to do a malwarebites scan (I've never heard of it. I've tried the 'reboot' with no success but am currently trying again - leaving it switched off for a while.
What were you doing when you got this. Is this an ad that has popped out when you were playing a game for instance?
google malwarebites and download then install free version, be sure to remove check from prime service on last page before install..then run a scan...all assuming you can get on to do this of course !
When you reboot it should give you back the home screen. Before you do anything else. double click the home button, this will give you all your open apps. swipe up on each app to close them. When they are all gone with only the home screen left, try again

Thanks to everyone for posting. Rockys method has worked perfectly for me.
There is no need to use anti virus packages/software on an iPad. Apple do it for you automatically.
