Cursor Black Square

A black sqaure has recently appeared next to my PC mouse cursor... does anybody know how to get rid of it ?

Which version of Windows?

Is the problem there all of the time (e.g. when moving your cursor over the desktop) or just in a specific program (e.g. Firefox?).

It is there all the time and very annoying typing text etc.

That reads as if it's something to do with the 'accessibility' options within Windows, so (I repeat) WHICH version of Windows is it?

Sorry I did not get back to you, I am running Windows XP but the Black Square vanished as quickly as it came - thanks for your input.

I'm glad that it seems to have sorted itself out.

If it reoccurs though, take a look at XP's 'accessibility' options to see if changing something there helps:
