I have Talk Talk as a phone line and internet service provider. Today on the news there are reports Talk Talk has been hacked and the personal details of 4 million customers are compromised;- my question is- are my online banking and other accounts like facebook and hotmail at risk because of the breach at Talk Talk? Or would the hackers have to hack into each account to compromise their security? Advice welcome, its a disconcerting situation... the boss of Talk talk wont say if the Talk talk customers info that the company possess was encrypted or not, so it sounds like it wasnt! OOO-er

We get our phone and broadband via AOL which is of course TalkTalk but we haven't been contacted by talk talk yet. Will we be?
Just had a pop-up from android.hdwly.science says: my huddle2 has been blocked because of the hacking - I think that I his might be spam
i think that's spam. We didn't get our e-mail from talk-talk until this afternoon but I think they are getting round to it. The e-mail was an exact copy of what Zacs has posted above from their website.
Not had my email yet.
Nor me ladybirder

Thank you for the details of the email ZM & Prudie
I feel for everyone who have been affected, even TalkTalk...

I see both old and existing customers have been targetted .

I switched from TalkTalk to BT (very successfully I have to add) a few months back but I still changed my online banking password tonight.

You can't ever be too careful.
I think you were wise to do so DL. Your details are probably still on their database.
Thank you ladybirder. The ransom they are demanding must be huge. 4m customers a/c's would yield a helluva lot but hardly enough to warrant this effort ! What's even more concerning is that hackers hack daily but it's only because of the size of this company it's made the news...maybe we should change our passwords monthly !
Apologies, I didn't realise that there was another thread. Very interesting.
