Is it better to leave your laptop on at night or swith it off?

Don't have one but if I did and used it regularly/often I'd probably leave it hibernated.

But that would be for speed of access. Unsure I'd say it was "better" to leave it on. Better by what criteria ?

Both. I don't think it makes a difference except it still uses power in sleep/hibernation.

Mine is on practically 24/7 the startup on my Mac is a bit long winded, hence leaving it on.

I do exactly the same as fender, in fact I only ever turn my laptop off when I'm going on holiday.
