Last April we purchased a hdl2 from Tesco and now that something has gone wrong on It we notice that Tesco are no longer selling them. The purchase is still under guarantee but where do we take it to be mended?

The fact that Tesco are no longer selling them is irrelevant. They sold you yours; it's their job to get you a working one.
I'd ask at Tesco were I in your shoes. Even if the retail store doesn't take it (and I guess it might) they should know the process to claim.
I had a problem with my Hudl2.
I phoned the helpline and they collected it the following day and returned it a week later.
The fault had been repaired and it was excellent service from TESCO.
