How Do You Feel About The Sudden Rash Of The Tricolour?
I've noticed this on Facebook and now here on AB.
I had a conversation with a colleague about this today, and both of us feel uneasy about it, both find it difficult to express exactly why.
I felt the same when suddenly loads of friends on social media slapped the rainbow flag over their avatars when America ratified equal marriage.
What are your thoughts? If you haven't changed your avatar, do you have reason, or is it just something you've not thought about doing?

And like you I am not sure why I do
I have 138 Facebook friends and when I last counted 25 had 'twibboned'
I think what might be behind my reluctance was the claim made by the authors that we would be 'helping' in some way. Which seems like a slight exaggeration

I hear what you're saying, and to an extent I agree. One (tricolour) is about mourning and the other (rainbow flag) is about celebration.
But both are a symbol of solidarity in one form or another.
Again, I want to stress that I am in no way attacking or denigrating those who have changed their avatar...I am trying to get an understanding of why I feel so weird about it.
For example - I observed the minute's silence today, and I thought that was wholly appropriate and was pleased that my company joined in with it...but the avatar thing doesn't feel the same.
