My dad just moved and has got new router xx all set up an iPhone and iPads working perfectly but his computer not responding ...... He has Windows 7 but his computer is a Packard Bell I media S1800 3.00Gb and 64 bit operating system ... The icon for the Internet in the bottom right hand corner of monitor has a Red Cross in it ..... Can anyone help to see if this computer too old to access a wireless router ????? Usually on my laptop when I get this sign my wifi button is off ??? Any assistance would be great

Right click on the icon that is crossed out and then click troubleshoot. Tell us what it says.
Also check the device manager and look for NetWork Adapters. Click on that and it will tell you if it is wifi enabled. You should see 'Network Adapter' as well as Ethernet

Looking at the specifications for that machine, I can't see any mention of a wireless adapter. (You can't expect any computer to connect wirelessly unless it's got a device for transmitting and receiving either built into it or attached to it!).
So, as others have suggested, you need to add a suitable adapter. You can buy them online for a fiver or so but I'd recommend spending £10.50 at Wilkinson's:
