Slow Wi -Fi
My VM 50mb wifi never goes above 3 bars.Yet i have router placed at highest point in house.Last time i changed channel and that fixed problem.
This time i have changed various channels and still poor wifi.
I phoned Vm and they- me lots of tech excuses and said channel clashes are irrelevant (really ?)
I did some speed tests on my smartphone. When i was next to router i got for 3 tests .Mbps

Then downstairs

dl 2.11 up 12

Get yourself a wifi distributer or amp tali1. Walls doors etc etc will reduce it. It seems low anyway on the first set of figures.

What speed do you get when you connect your pc to the hub by ethernet?
I'm with VM and get 150Mbps download on my ethernet connected pc (which is the speed I am paying for) and around 40 Mbps over wifi on my laptop. My smartphone is a different kettle of fish and the speed varies.
I'm a bit jealous though because even over ethernet my upload speed is never above 7Mbps

There are many factors that affect your wifi signal. Cordless phones, security cameras, microwave cookers, fish tanks, lots of metal, distance from router, certain building materials, the amount of devices connected at the time...
I am still bothered about your upload speeds - they don't seem right. Virgin told me that their upload speed should be about 10% of the download speed and never much above 7 Mbps regardless of superfast broadband. Your's is much faster than your download speeds when you are not next to the router.
