WARNING!: Be extra careful with this company online!
My wife purchased £80.00 worth online & was charged through PayPal AND through her Bank debit card!! £160! Not a bad mark-up?......So, after phoning them to have this mistake corrected- and waiting and listening to their wonderful music, they agreed to refund £80.00 back into her account.
Thorntons managed yet another mistake by refunding ..............£8.00!
This occasion is a second one, -last year too there were 'mistakes'
I think my wife will be searching out a new Chocolates Company next time!
If you pay by Paypal and there is no balance on the Paypal account the money is then taken from your debit card or other linked card to cover it- but as Paypal seem to have accepted there was a problem I don't think this is what happened. But although I can see you bank account was debited I'm not sure what you mean by your paypal account was debited
I agree with hc4361, Hotel Chocolat is brilliant, I worked there as a temp for 3 Christmases packing the orders. We got free chocs at tea break and a big box as a gift at the end of the season.
Last year I ordered online a box of chocs with a personalised choc label from Thorntons, but got one with a blank label. When I complained and asked for a personalised label they sent me one, attached to another box of chocs , so I was more than satisfied.
Bathsheba- yes these were numerous gifts!
Tonyav- yes, I think may have been set up with debit card first time round.....
We will NOT be using Thorntons again!!
Dya know, I remember way back when...Thornton's chocs were classed as quite downmarket + even a bit nasty!! Or was that my mother and her snobby outlook? ;)
Baths- I remember when it was MilkTray & DairyBox that were the chosen Chocs. But now we have tasted Belgian hand made....etc.,etc and now Thorntons tastes pretty much like MilkTray....
Have a nice Christmas, - and don't eat toooooo many Chocs!! Xx
