Loss Of Sound

I have lost sound re youtube or anything.

I have looked at speaker on the actual youtube and whilst picture moves and it "appears" to be talking - no sound - also humming from speaker.

I also looked at sound on the task bar and again it appears to be working ie sound flickering up and down but no sound.

Anything else I can try - thanks.

Humming from the speaker suggests something to do with the lead – it could be faulty or not properly plugged into the computer.

I have tried pulling in and out plugs too. May wait until my nephew comes up at Xmas. Thanks all
