Whatsapp On Tablet.

Just got a Samsung galaxy Tab A, it has whatsapp installed on it. Obviouslynthere is no phone sim. It keeps asking for phone number. I would like for it to work on tablet, but if I put mobile number in will it work as well as on phone?

yes you need to give it your number otherwise how would it work,all you have at mo is the app it needs setting up,and whats app is very good

it needs a sim card in your mobe it cant use the tablet one unless you swop it over

You can't put a SIM card in that tablet so Whatsapp won't work on it

WhatsApp only works on phones I thought so surprised it's installed. You're not thinking Google hangouts which has a very similar green icon and can be used on a tablet - it still asks for your phone number though.

This is what I thought. Have been using WhatsApp for years and know it need a phone aim. Just wondered why it was installed.

Reading the following article it appears that WhatsApp is available for Android Tablets and shows how to bypass the Phone number verification settings (see the section "How to install WhatsApp on a tablet: Bypass WhatsApp phone verification"):-

An application for smartphones and some tablets.

You can send "free" text messages to other users, also phone them for free via Whatsapp.

My daughter was in New York for Xmas and she phoned us from her mobile phone via Whatsapp to my mobile phone on Whatsapp and because it was over wi fi (at both ends) it was free.

Note both phones have to be one wi fi for Whatsapp to have a free phone call.

Thank you pinkboyid I remember that I did this on my laptop but much easier as only had to scan a code. Will definitely do this.

My daughter and I couldn't use WhatsApp calls from Dubai, just didn't work. But great for normal.life.

Thanks have it up and running now except every time i send a message firefox crashes. I thought i had downloaded chrome to use but obviously not. Will try again.
