I dropped my Nokia phone and now it is no-more. I can hear the keys registering when I press them but the screen doesn't light up. I bought a new phone from Tesco and they said that I could just transfer the sim card. I thought that this meant that all my details ie phone numbers and messages would be transferred over. My phone number has stayed the same but don't seem to have any other details. Should the information be transferred automatically?

Details can be stored in the handset or on the SIM card. If the display is working it is easy to copy from one to the other. Sounds like you were keeping details in the handset. Going to be difficult to copy that to the SIM card without a working display. Maybe a mobile seller workshop/techie can help ? Try the shops/stalls.

Thank you old geezer
What Nokia is it? Can you plug it into the computer?
It might be possible to find a PC programme that allows you to connect to the old handset and download the details; then connect to the new handset and upload them there. The shop should know.
Nokia offer "PC Suite" that might suit.

Its a really old granny type phone so I doubt that it will connect to the internet
Question Author
Not even sure of the model
Might say on the label under the battery ?
You don't need the internet GG, just a bluetooth connection will do. Most phones, even our 10-year old basic models, have bluetooth connection.

Nokia BL- 4CT 2720a-2 yes there is bluetooth but I've never used it and can't access it on my old phone
That sounds like the battery ID

Could be a Nokia 2720 Fold, 5130, 5310, 5630, 6600 Fold, 7210 Supernova, 7310 Supernova, 2720 fold, or 6600fold.

I still reckon a shop with expert techies is your best bet. Or a clued up grandchild ;-)
