Tumble Dryer's Stopped Working
14 Answers
Hi,
My Zanussi ZDC68560W has suddenly stopped working. I'd opened the door during a cycle as I was on the phone in the same room (which I've done before) but forgot to shut the door later. Have no idea if it's related to the fact there's no power to the machine now.
Have cleaned the filters & the heat exchanger, changed the fuse & have it plugged into another socket.
It's not even 4yrs old yet, wasn't cheap (!) & probably only gets used twice a week at most.
Any ideas ?

It was only on for seconds before I opened the door so nothing would've had time to heat. Can't help but think it's just a coincidence.
Would a damaged part really stop the LED coming on, wouldn't there be an error message or light on ? Lights come on when filters need cleaning & the water needs emptying.

Firstly satisfy yourself that you are plugging it into a socket with power on it.
From a switch-off position, follow the instruction given in the answer in this link - it put the machine into technician diagnostic mode. See if a fault code comes up and not it down.
Then try using that website to get the online technicians to help tell you what is wrong.

Opening the door whilst the programme was running really and leaving it in that mode wasn't the brightest thing to do - the machine may just need a hard reset of the software, or you may have done more damage than that to the electronics.
I understand the principles of these machines but I cannot diagnose it for you more than this.

Hi,
Just to update & put this one to bed as someone might find this useful - it cost £70 odd to have an engineer visit to tell me he thought one of the 2 PCBs needed replacing tho' couldn't be 100% sure. This wasn't a Zanussi Service Force engineer btw, they want their call out fee before they visit ! He estimated a new PCB could cost £100s but was going to find out how much & let me know. He never actually did (so not impressed) but meantime I contacted Zanussi direct. Turns out they run a "contribution exchange" scheme where they'll replace a machine with like for like, at trade price, taking into account how old the faulty machine is.
They gave me the option of 2 machines, updated versions of the one I had, for £180, with free delivery & disposal of old. They cost £300+ online so for a total of £250, I've now got a new machine & warranty. Replacing the PCB would likely have been the same (if not more !) so good result I reckon.
