Fitbit/golf?
7 Answers
Looking for some advice on using a Fitbit on the golf course. I am thinking about buying one but a friend has told me hers sometimes registers steps if she just moves her arm maybe to gesture (politely of course!) or wave to someone. This doesn't bode well for swinging a golf club, especially with the number of shots I have to play to get round! Appreciate any thoughts or advice on what model to get or if I just shouldn't bother. General advice on Fitbit also appreciated thanks.

I keep the phone in my pocket on silent when on the course, obviously.

I have a Fitbit Flex (the cheapest and most basic one) and I like the fact that I put it on first thing in the morning and then forget about it. It gives a little buzz when I have reached 10,000 steps (just over 4 miles), which always pleases me.
I can look at my progress on my iPhone or iPad and see how I have done each day.
My only complaint is fastening it. Found this tricky, so just leave it closed and slide it onto my arm every day.

Why get a Fitbit in the first place .. you can get a pedometer app for free if you have an android phone. Keep your phone in your pocket and it will measure your steps and propably give a similar result to the Fitbit, which is just another gadget you dont really need to cart around.
Why would you need to know the exact amount of steps you do on a golfcourse anyway .. the aim of the game is to get round in as few strokes as possible. If the winner was decided on who done the fewest steps, then I'm sure we would see teams of bearers carrying golfers around the course on a lounge chair !
