Backdoor Graybird virus...

My Norton keeps detecting a Backdoor Graybird virus, when I switch my computer on, but I can not get rid of it. I've tried the Norton website along with others but have had no success. Any ideas??

you need to update your antivirus software so that it will be able to fix files infected with the latest viruses you should be able to download this from the norton website

Have you tried Microsoft AntiSpyware and Adaware? Both do deep scans on your PC and can delete things from registry keys that Norton can't. I had a worm once that Norton couldn't get rid of, but AntiSpyware sorted it first time.

Also download the trial version of NOD32 antivirus from www.eset.com, this combined with Microsoft Antispyware should sort you out.

if not, I've just been googling it for you it's a trojan and it seems that detection of the virus may be a false positive - just put backdoor graybird virus into google and you get loads of ideas - plus the official page from Symantec that tells you what to do about it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help guys.. I've uninstalled my Norton as it showed up with some errors when I ran it in safe mode, don't know whether the virus is effecting that too as I can't seem to "live update". The unfortunate thing now is that I've lost my 24 digit product key code and can't get it to re-install.. About to install Avant to see if that picks up anything.
