Ancestry.com
Hi, I am a registered guest on ancestry.com on my home computer windows xp but over time they started to charge for using it, so I was told that if you go to the library (lancashire) that I could use the peoples network and use it for free, up till a few months ago everything was fine I mainly use the public member family trees, I tried to use it as usual but the sreen said that the ancestry institution.com and ancestryclass room domains were for institutional access only or personal accounts, i have tried to contact ancestry but they have not replied and the library says that there has been a change in policy but I am not sure what it is. Has anybody else had the same problem and what can I do to get back on ti without paying. thanks

If you are barred at the library then they are the only one's who can let you use it again. You could ask what you need to do there. But otherwise Ancestry is a business and aren't going to be interested in giving out charity access.

If you're based in Lancashire and the people you are researching are from the county, try looking on http:// www.lan -opc.or g.uk/ which is free and has parish records going further back than the Census and the BMD, it's an on-going project so is worth coming back to regularly.
In addition https:/ /family search. org/ is also free.
