Slow Running

I have an HP 550 that runs on Windows 10, it's not used for downloading any games, films etc, but it has started to run very very slowly and although the indication is that there is a strong signal, it will randomly lose connection with the internet, this is being done on an old, reliable XP or Vista. There are sites I am totally incapable of connecting too, even though the Kindles and phones have no problem. It's had all temporary files removed and is up to date on all upgrades. Does anyone have any more suggestions? TIA.

The problem I have is that I can't got onto the website for some reason I can get onto only a few websites. It'll proably mean a trip to see my man who has solved other problems.
