with my moto, when you plug the mobe into your laptop usb you then pull down on the mobe screen and click on transfer photos or transfer files otherwise it just charging your mobe with the usb connection, then click on the mobes icon on the comp you'll see the phone storage,go from there

Is your phone shown as an external drive on your computer? (Go to Start > Computer to take a look).
If it is, double-click on its icon to access its contents and then drag-&-drop (or cop-&-paste) files using the usual Windows techniques.
If not, try this:

Maybe you should install the right driver, and enable USB debuggging when you connect your phone to pc. If that doesn't help, you can use an android phone manager to manage phone on pc, https://www.mobikin.com/android-backup/how-to-transfer-photos-between-android-phone-and-computer.html
As for me, I follow this guide to help me transfer photos from my phone to computer, it is quite simple for me, and you can also get this way to try. https://www.samsung-messages-backup.com/resources/transfer-photos-between-android-phone-and-computer.html
