Block Calls

I am getting calls that I want to block.
I have a Motorola X play with Motorola's version of Android 6.
My network provider cant help.
I can send the calls to voicemail but I can not just block the call.
As I understand it from the research I have done on the web:
Only a Google Nexus phone running Android 6 has native call blocking.
All the call blocking apps available on Google Play will just send the call to voicemail.
Any suggestions/ideas please.

The app uses its own message service and does not work with multimedia messages.
Also it is not clear if it blocks the calls or just sends them to voicemail.

I use an app called safest call blocker. Totally free and advert free. If I miss the call, I search it and see what is said, and if bad, just add it to blocked calls.

I use one called NQ Call blocker, also free, from Amazon appstore I think. Works fine and you can store certain numbers that you want blocked.

I'm not sure where you got that info, but it's not correct. It allows you to choose a number of options, including, but not limited to sending to voicemail.

It works with both SMS and MMS.
