At the moment I have unlimited broadband data useage, so I have no idea of my monthy consumption. I am with BT. I don't think I am able to view anywhere my data use.
I am tempted to move provider because BT offer a poor service and are expensive. I would say I am a heavy user of the internet. I listen to streamed audio (podcast/iTunes) and some TV.
How much data am I likely to be using?

Crissa, Virgin doesn't use BT lines.

12 GB a month will be very limiting. My Windows data useage tells me I have used 200 GB on one pc alone in the last 30 days. I have three pcs, a tablet and smartphone all connected to my internet supply

So nobody has a clue how much data they are using, but have been persauded to pay more for unlimited. All seems a bit scammy to me.
I could work out exactly how much data I am using by looking at the 'data useage' on devices, not through my ISP.
Not Everybody, can get cable, hc.
@hc4361.... You have said..." My Windows data useage tells me I have used 200 GB on one pc alone in the last 30 days".

I am very interested in this thread, so please tell me exactly what you mean by // My Windows data useage.// I didn't realise that there is way with windows to establish facts about Broadband Usage as are being examined in this thread.

Hans.

Hans.
my £29 per month package includes BT line ...with EE
@murraymints.....Sounds as if you are on a real winner because EE is a reliable and trustworthy ISP. What do you have to pay for your telephone calls?.

Hans.
Hans, I use W10.

Click the network icon in the task bar. Click on the connection that you use and then click 'data usage' in the left hand pane. On this pc it shows both ethernet and wifi data usage as I use both.

Haven't got a clue as much as we need has to be the answer, there are 3 of us in the house using BT Unlimited, we use what we need, don't think it's expensive for what we get.
I am with BT - used to be limited to 10 GB a month. I mainly was just browsing and emails. If I occasionally watched iplayer I would go over and had to pay extra. So I changed to unlimited and for the few pounds more it is worth it. If you are a heavy user you do need unlimited.
I`ve always used unlimited - the savings I make on my online purchases easily covers the cost.
Hans..I only pay for any mobiles over 1000 mins and the very few overseas that are not included..usually the £29 is it ..in full per month
You can view your data usage for the last 30 days if you go into settings .....network and internet.... data usage. I have used 36.05 GB in the last 30 days.
Are you using w10 gromit?
If so click on the windows logo bottom left or the windows 4 pane key on keyboard.
Click the cog symbol that says settings if you hover on it.
Click Network and internet.
Select data usage from menu list bottom left.

Thanks Togo, and others.

Think that only gives the PCs usage.
I have a phone, iPad, KodiTV box, AppleTV box and now an Amazon Fire all using the broadband. I haven't a clue how to even monitor half of those. I have given up trying to find the answer.
You are streaming tv - that uses a LOT of data. Unlimited is the only choice you have
Haha Gromit, had you posted in "news" folk may have been encouraging you to cap your usage.. (^_*)
If you are with BT Gromit you can access your account and that will give you your total usage on your bill. We have our account set up for online billing but you can still view your bill if you have not.
