Twitter Notifications On Iphone

I turned on 'Do Not Disturb', and turned off Notifications in Settings and switched off Notifications in Twitter settings. BUT - notifications kept popping up and pausing the TV channel I was watching. Is there a simple way to stop this frustrating app then turn it on again when I choose?

In your iPhone settings, there are notification settings which lets you switch off notifications from individual apps such as Twitter. Are you sure you are getting Twitter Notifications, and not Twitter messages?
To turn off Twitter when watch a tv programme, doubletap the Home button to show which Apos you have open, and then swipe the Twitter page away close the App.

Also, if that doesn't work, under settings, go to the Twitter App settings and Turn Off Background Refresh.
