Paintshop Pro X9
I have recently upgraded to PSP X9. I have downloaded and installed the program (all official from the Corel website) but when I come to Run the program it gets as far as the Welcome "Splash" Screen and then immediately shows an error meassage "PaintShop Pro X9 has stopped working" and gives the options to "Close the Program" or "Search the Internet for a solution...". Clicking on either of these options immediately closes the program and I am back where I started. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but I always get the same result. The lady at Corel spent 2½hrs attempting to resolve the problem and came to the conclusion that it was a "compatibility issue". I don't believe this as I am running Win7 (64 bit) and I don't have any problems with any other software.
I think I have read somewhere that Windows Updates can cause strange things to happen but there are so many updates that it's impossible to even attempt to guess which one might be the culprit.
Are there any PSP X9 experts out there who might be able to offer words of advice? Any comments gratefully received!

In particular check that you've got Service Pack 1 AND Windows Update KB3125574 (which is effectively Service Pack 2) installed.

Thanks for your quick reply Chris. I'm sure that my hardware meets all the requirements listed in your link. Also I know I have SP1 but I can't find any trace of the update KB3125574. When I Google this it looks as if it isn't a simple case of "Click here to install update", rather it looks too complicated for a simple soul like me to try to get to grips with.
Thanks again for your reply. I'm rather hoping that the "Corel Lady" I mentioned earlier will have escalated my case to a higher level. I'll see what happens. I've already made murmurings about getting a refund of the cost of my upgrade.

Thanks for all your answers Chris!
Sorry I didn't get back to you last night but I had another 1½ hrs on the phone to Corel. The "Level 2" support guy sorted everything out for me but I have to admit that I only understood parts of what he was doing. Apparently, some "Permissions" were not right and somehow the main Corel folder had become corrupted.
Anyway, the upshot is that now my shiny new PSP X9 is up and running.
So, thanks again for your input, particularly the link to the Win update. I'll install this when I've finished my Christmas chores.
Regards and best wishes for the festive season.
