I have a full sized electric fly killer and it works on those daft enough to get into the kitchen. Get what you pay for, I reckon. But I'm informed that electrocuted flies can explode bits in all directions, so have a care where you site them. The sticky catchers may be a more hygienic alternative.
If you succeed in killing the flies there will soon be more, meanwhile the dead rodent will stink to high heaven for longer. If you can't remove the rodent, I would put up with the flies for a few days, better then stinking the place out.
The electronic 'high frequency' insect repellent things do not work.
The zappers with a blue light do and you can use the deceased victims to improve the appearance of any fruit cake you may make in the future.
