Freeview Remote On A Sharp Tv
6 Answers
Hi, bit of a long shot, BUT, just set up this Sharp TV in daughters bedroom, accessing only Freeview (no problem. That's fine) BUT.... it's kind of stuck on BBC1? Programme arrows up and down just stay on BBC1, I've gone into SOURCES and chosen TV option then EXT1. And then EXT2 etc.... but the only thing that enables us to actually CHANGE channel is to choose SOURCES/EXT1/OK. And then the Freeview menu comes up. But not ideal really?
Any ideas for a technophobe would be great fully received. Thank you in advance. :/

Set the source to 'TV'. Press the menu button. Look for something like 'Set Up' or 'Scan'.

If you're getting a picture from an external source ('EXT1') it suggests that you've got a Freeview set-top box plugged into the set. If so, you'll ned to use the remote control for that box, rather than the one for the TV set.
If you've not got a set top box in use (and you've got an aerial plugged directly into the TV), have you actually carried out a scan of all available channels? (You need to do that, in order to get the channel information stored in the set, before you can select individual channels).

The source you need would depend on which plug you connected the freeview set-top box too. If there is no set-top box and the TV contains the freeview circuitry than I'd expect the source to be something like TV or DTV.
Are the batteries in the remote fully charged ?
Maybe you could pick up a cheap universal remote and see if that can work the channels.
Aside from that I can only suggest taking it to be serviced.

Hi guys and thank you! There's no set top box it's Freeview in the TV, I haven't done a channel search yet.... it was mine from the lounge and I just set it up in her bedroom, so I know it does work perfectly well. The remote and batteries are new also.
So, (sorry to ask) how do I do a Manual channel search? Do I go into menu? I'm not great technically I'm afraid? (Well, I'm great on iPhones etc. But not TVs) any idvice would be great thank you. :))
