I-Mode offered with O2?

Hi there,

Has anyone heard of this I-mode that O2 are currently launching? It can go on the internet but is better than WAP and GPRS. As Im with O2 they offered me a free phone and use of this service for 6 months free. I've accepted as I really like one of the handsets available and its a free upgrade. Has anyone else been contacted about this or knows anymore about it? It might be a flop like WAP was but I'd like to hear what people think.

I-Mode is a huge success in Japan but with WAP really falling on its backside and not providing what the networks said (very much like 3G will), I can't see it taking off. It's just another technology that, despite being well proven abroad, probably isn't right for the UK at the moment.
