Warning About Answerbank

Have just tried to log in to AB using firefox and have got a warning saying my details aren't secure and if I continue they may not be secure - I usually use firefox and to my knowledge haven't altered anything. Have just used Google and everything was normal.

Is this anything I should be worried about? Many thanks

YES, Firefox. I discovered ages ago that it was not reliable & when I asked questions on A/B I was advised by Chris ( Buenchico) to change my browser to Mozilla Seamonkey which I did & have never had a minutes trouble since.

Look at the URL of the website. If it begins with “https” instead of “http” it means the site is secured using an SSL Certificate (the s stands for secure). SSL Certificates secure all of your data as it is passed from your browser to the website's server. I wonder why AB doesn't secure this website...

The latest version of Firefox simply warns people when they're using log-in details on an 'http' (rather than 'https') page. It's not important when you're not spending money (or, say, logging into a bank account)

You say that, but some trusting folk may use the same username and password at all their sites including financial ones; so as a courtesy to those unable to see the problem, https is good practice at such screens.
