Wireless laptop internet connection

I would like to have my laptop set up so that I have internet connected without the lead. I currently have BT broadband and a fairly old laptop, do I need a speacial laptop? Do I need a special wire? Please help I'm confused (doesn't take much!)


As you can tell I'm not great with computers so if you could explain in plain englsih exactally how I do this it would be great.

you will need a router to connect to your modem. This receives the signal from your laptop.

Then you simply need a wireless PCMCIA card to slot into the side of your laptop. Most laptops have a PCMCIA slot.

Follow the instructions that you get with your router and away you go. Hope this helps
