We have been instructed by our bin men that we have to separate our food waste and put in with the garden waste.

Also anybody know where I can buy the recyclable bags to put the food waste in. Thanks again for any help.

biodegradable bags are in the pound shop here ! wee ones about the size of a small carrier bag
Our council takes white bags for anything recyclable.

We also have a food waste bin but I never use it.

ok Murray - was in Poundland earlier but wasn't looking for them at the time. Will do next time I am in. Thanks

I am not looking forward to doing this at all. Do not want food waste lolling about in my kitchen.

No I don't want to use waste bin either. But am afraid that if I keep putting the waste in to the other "black" bin. They will not pick up the black bin.
If you're putting food waste into the bags there's not much point in the them being 'recyclable' (because they're obviously not going to be recycled).

What you need is 'bio-degradable' bags. All of the big supermarkets sell them. e.g. https://groceries.asda.com/product/bin-bags-liners/asda-biodegradable-kitchen-caddy-liners/910001362603

thanks Chris - another place to buy them.
I think you misunderstood the question ummmm. Here in West Berkshire we put food scraps into a recyclable plastic bag ie, a bag made from plastic which will recycle. I think that is what jenny is looking for.
Bio-degradable - that's the word.
Some Councils start you off with some bags then have a link on their recycling pages about what to use and where to get them.
chris they are like the ones in pound shop here !
I have the brown caddy for food waste, we're not allowed put bags in them, two sheets of newspaper only and it has to be washed with dettol after it's collected, I'm so fussy about it and the bin company has me so messed up over it I sometimes think the caddy is cleaner than my dishes
All the food waste bags sold in supermarkets and Poundland etc are biodegradable and are specifically for food waste recycling. All the ones I've ever bought are very pale green - look for the small rolls of pale green bags.
Funny old game this planet saving.
We're specifically told NOT to put food in the brown bin with garden waste.
douglas my brown caddy is only like a bucket, no garden waste allowed, food only and they don't accept them little green bio degradable bags, the rules of the bins come between me and my night's sleep
second along ..food scraps bag 20 for a pound
I didn't misunderstand. Jenny is in NI. Everywhere is different. We are supplied with 3 boxes plus a food waste box, there is no garden waste collection where I live. The council supply bags for general waste and the rest is put in the boxes but the council will take any surplus as long as they are put into white bags. They do not specify what type of white bags.
The whole system seems to be run by inadequates.
If my link is the correct authority, they supply the bags.

If not, sorry.
