household hints and tips
Hi there, I'm compiling a 'book' as a present for my mother who loves all that alternative/natural/old fsioned remendy type stuff. The book is for her for Christmas. I plan to present it in a scrap booky type way (black mount card, white pen, natural toppers, free samples to try the tips etc etc).
I have several ideas of things to use like adding Bicarb to greens to keep them green when cooking; or using washing soda with your wash to reduce the amount of washing powder used.
So, anyone got any cool tips for free food/ household cleaning/ remedies for common maladies/ fix its/ frugal living/handmade stuff/kid's stuff/home beauty treats etc etc etc....
Also, it will help other AB-ers who wish to do the same (or nick the gift idea for their mothers hehehehehe)
Eagerly awaiting as many replies as possible....I promise to copy your AB id onto the tip in my finished article. Cool huh? with a www.ab.co.uk on the back for that professional touch and a tribute to the site in forward. Great stuff Go on - Don those thinking caps

I got given a copy of Mrs Beetons Household Management as a present and it is full of the things you are after. 1680 pages in total!! For example: How to employ domestic servants, splint a broken leg, invalids food, stain removal, shoe repairing, laundry tips etc. etc. It is a fantastic read and very old fashioned which makes some of the advice / recipes seem very funny by todays standards.
Hope this helps and good luck!
