Is it possible to upgrade the operating system of my tablet?It is android 4.0.4

Your tablet was designed to run on Android 3.1, so it's already been updated to 4.0.4. While there are loads of websites describing how to carry out that update, there seem to be none relating to any further updates, so it looks like you're out of luck.

Many tablets and smartphones dont run "pure" Android but a version tailored by the company that sell the phone / tablet.

So Samsung will take "pure" Android and tailor it with their own apps etc and then release it.

But of course for older tablets and smartphones they wont bother so as your devices get older then they will no longer run the latest Android.

Devices by Google (who make Android) do tend to upgrade Android for longer as Google devices like tablets and phones do run "pure" Android.
