Updated Galaxy Phone. Using All My Data
11 Answers
Since updating the Galaxy J5 2016 my data has gone mad, in one week used over 500mb whereas before it was around 150mb per week. What can I do? Also battery running low quickly. I looked on internet for tips to lower monthly data but it hasnt helped. Can I get rid of this update and keep my contacts, photos etc? I never watch films, or play games, or use social media. Hardly used internet at all. I used to use less than han 500mb and per month before update. Tia. I am not technical by the way

The guy in the phone shop today went into data usage and my email background usage was very high ...447mb in a week since my last bill. Whatever background means. So he disabled background data for my email. I really don't understand Background Data.. Can this be completely disabled? If I disable everything I keep getting reminders on the screen that it is switched off. Can I just leave the 00mb items switched on, will this affect the way I use the phone and apps?? He said its nothing to do with the update just lots going on in the backround. So anyway email background is disabled. Can someone please explain Background to me in a non technical way? Also how do I switch off Samsung Backup with out losing anything? Thanks very much..
Complicated Smurf. But if you read through this dialogue it will give you a clue. Strangely enough I have just spent a couple of hours setting Up "She who must be obeyed's" brand new Samsung J3. I have linked it up to our home router and turned off the background data capacity. She is still getting email notifications and Samsung upgrades through our unlimited home wifi. The setting are a little different for all the phone service suppliers, ie. Vodaphone , EE, etc.

Oh dear I have looked through that and now I am more confused than ever.. Too much information which went right over my head. I am not at all technical. So what would happen if I switched background data off?? and why do you think my phone is using so much data all of a sudden? It is a Tesco mobile by the way .
Thanks Chair.. Will I lose anything by doing this? I have been tOld in another phone shop that my emails were updating every 15 minutes... And it eas probably due to the update I did a couple of weeks ago. This has been changed now to once a day and the guy in the ohone shop switched off Bluetooth as well.. Can someone tell me how to change the emails to update less, like this guy did ?? Thanks everyone x
