my internet dropping problems finally resolved !
thought id post this as many people have had the same problem as me ie their broadband connection keeps dropping.
after many calls to wanadoo i finally got the bt engineer to call.the problem lay with my line in that it couldnt support the 2meg connection that i had installed and i had to drop back down to 1meg.i have now done this and all seems fine but surely there should be some legal change where a more thorough check is performed before faster services are offered ? i paid 20 for this upgrade to find out(eventually) that i shouldnt have had it.anyone else in the same boat agree ?

When I signed up for broadband, I didn't specify a speed - It was just 'up to 2Mb/s' - no other options. Sometimes it will connect perfectly at 2.3Mb/s for hours on end, others it won't connect for hours on end.
The speed checkers on the net say I can only get 512Kb/s, but surely if 2Mb/s works for long periods this can't be the case.
I might be wrong, but as far as I know the only reason for not getting faster connections for most people is the distance from their exchange, meaning that the Signal-To-Noise-Ratio is not sufficient to provide high speeds. This would suggest that it is either possible or not possible, not intermittenty
