Diabetic Foot Problems
7 Answers
I have been having a burning pain in my right foot down one side, I spoke to chiropody and they told me that this could be the early start of diabetic neuropathy. It is very much coming and going. However I am getting cramping pain in that leg when I walk and having to stop. I have very mild PAD in my left leg of 0.92 I had an ankle brachial index tst 3 years ago. I am not overly concerned I have good strong pulses? Is neuropathy differnt from circulation problems?

Yes......completely different.
Neuropathy involves the nerves in an uncontrolled diabetic.
Circulation problems involve the arteries, almost always to the legs, in a diabetic but also in no diabetics.

That is almost certainly circulation problems called intermittent claudication and can occur in non diabetics.
The burning pain in your foot, that you describe could be anything (including diabetic neuropathy) . Wait and see what happens.

I went to see GP and he has told me it is definetly nerve damage and it will come and go. Apparently it happens in people who are doing everything right, so it is not just down to bad control. So I feel a bit better about it. I am taking cocodamol 30/500 for the pain when it comes on and it is also quite relaxing. He recommend pregabalin and ironically it helps with anxiety however I am on quite a lot of meds already, if the pain is getting worse I have to go back and see him.
