Hi. Ripping/burning DVDs, I'm being given 5 chances to change the regional code to allow burning (I've now only got two changes left) What do I do? (HP Pavilion laptop)

These 5 chances are hard wired into the DVD device itself so once you've made all 5, you're then stuck with it, even if you then install the DVD drive into a different laptop.

A better option is to use software like AnyDVD which will trick your DVD drive into thinking that every DVD it encounters is region free. (It also instructs certain DVD copying progs that the DVD is no longer copy protected).

Thanks both for your quick responses. I'll give those links a try tomorrow when I get to my own computer - I'm on the company one at the moment, and they aren't too happy about us down-loading!!

Khana has posted further above about the vlan player and reckons that it will play different region discs. It is a good, free program but I haven't had the need to play other regions yet.
