Hi, I have two Panasonic DVD hard drive recorders plugged in to my TV and would like to use them both. However the remote for each controls both players at the same time which is frustrating. Obviously I could turn the power off the one I'm not using, but does anyone know of a way I could use each remote for each player without powering off each time? Is there any way I could block the infrared signal to one of the players when required? I tried to cover the front of the HDD with a block of wood but the infrared signal seemed to go through that.
Google " Ask a Panasonic Tech" about fixing 1 panasonic dvd remote to operate 2 dvd recorders separately. I have done it in the past but have now forgotten.
You could switch one of them on using the switch on the recorder. Then, when you press the on/off button on the remote, one will switch on and the other will switch off.
I tried aluminium foil wrapped round a strip of cardboard - it works for one but not for the other (newer) player! What would be the best material to block an infrared ray??

Without the full details Can you check that they are not using the Viera link that is a Panasonic thing and switch it off on one of the machines in settings?
Got it sorted! In settings - remote control, both of them were set to the default (DVD1) so I just changed one of them to DVD2 and now they operate individually - thank you all!
I didn't think Panasonic still gave you that option, although I know they used to do. When I went to buy an additional recorder I asked in the shop and they thought it wasn't passible so I bought a Humax instead.
Well done you.
