For several weeks I've had a message that my Galaxy Tab s2 wants to update...I've chosen the "update overnight". Yet...the next day the choice is there again. Yes, I know I can "do it now", but I'd prefer overnight.

Why not try accepting 'Do it now' last thing at night? Then, with a bit of luck, you'll get it to update overnight anyway.

Yeah...guess that's the obvious answer Chris. I just wonder why it's not done it overnight as requested.
Usually needs to be "locked, plugged in and charging" before it starts an update - is yours on charge overnight?
Question Author
Not usually...so it should be?
Guess I'll put it on charge tonight.
Updates can burn a lot of battery capacity - if the battery runs out at the wrong point in an update you probably have an expensive plastic brick instead of a phone.

So most phones will only update when plugged in and charging.

This is a tablet...will that make a difference?
Same difference - it's just worried about going flat during the update, so it checks that it's plugged in before it will start.

Ok...thanks Dave. I'll give it a go.
