Sending Emails By Tablet From Europe

My OH has problems with the above. The emails come up as sent in the Sent box but they don't reach the people they were sent to until he - and Tablet - get back to UK. This has happened many times.
He has spoken to his email provider - TalkTalk - and they say it is to do with his mobile phone provider - Vodafone and the Roaming facility. This sounds odd to us - we have tried to phone Vodafone but can't seem to speak to a real person about this.
Any advice please would be appreciated. Thank you

I am not an expert.
Has your OH got a UK sim card...if so..the problem could well be with Vodafone Roaming. Emails and texts do seem to be a problem.
The only suggestion would be to get a Spanish or whichever country he is in, their own sim card.
