the free version works for me.

The free version is very good, for getting rid of (most) nasties from an infected machine, but it's not guaranteed, and van be a hassle, especially if it's ransomeware.
To me it's worth the 20 or 30 quids or whatever annually to stop things reaching the machine at all.
