Connecting Mobile With Lg Tv

I have a Moto g5 plus mobile and a LG smart TV. I want to connect the phone to the TV so that I can Play videos etc from phone onto the TV screen. I am doing this by WI-FI Direct. I have managed to get both of them connected and seeing each other but when I click on the phone in the TV settings I keep getting an ERROR message and cannot see any files etc from phone on the TV screen. Anyone got any ideas what I am doing wrong ? And thank you in advance for replies.

Thank you Voltage for your reply. I will give that a try as soon as I can get control of the TV.
