You've certainly described the classic symptoms of insufficient signal strength. Communal aerial or not, a simple signal booster (for around a tenner from larger supermarkets) should fix the problem. e.g. https://groceries.asda.com/product/tv-accessories/philex-signal-booster/910002320209 You simply plug your aerial into it (instead of...
Do you mean problem rather than programme?
First, suggest you check that all cables/connectors are properly fitted
Second, ensure your tv is tuned properly and has most up to date channel map.
all new kit, that's why i am worried. I didn't set it up as i don't know what i am doing. we have a communal building aerial so its possibly that, just don;t know
the installers at PC World... they connected tv to dvd player, and then the freeview box to the rest, its all new goods so that's why i'm worried. if its the communal aerial then i need to get onto the council?
Does this mean that PC World connected all the devices at their shop and someone else connected the kit to the power and aerial in your home or did PC Word install it?
I don't know why you've got a freeview box - what sort is it and what does it do?
If the picture was okay on your old tv I'd say it was the new set up and not the ariel, but check with your neighbours
neighbours not conducive to visits, the bstds upstairs i wouldn't touch with a bargepole. next door are not in residence for months at a time.
if it continues i will contact pc world...
You simply plug your aerial into it (instead of whatever it's currently plugged into) and then use a fly lead (which is just a bit of aerial cable, with plugs on each end) to take the output from the booster to where your aerial used to be plugged into. Fly leads are available in many discount stores for just a pound or two.

i was told i needed this box so i could record programmes. i was told by pc installers that i needed a external hard drive, so i went to PC world and they gave me this box that lets me record.
