Yet Another Scam Call !
4 Answers
I have just had a call, from a chap with a very pronounced Asian accent, who said he was calling from BT. I have been expecting a call, qbout upgrading speed, so played along for a bit.
He then said that I was having some problems with my internet connection and it might not be very secure, so he was" going to help me this morning"
I then asked him what my BT account number was. and immediately the call ended.
I know we have discussed this sort of thing before here on AB, but I am sure some OAPs might have fallen for this.

If someone called them saying they were from the bank/BT/water board etc, they wouldnt question it. My grandmother is now under strict instructions to pass all callers to my mother (who has an LPA).
I get a little annoyed when people say "how stupid can you be to fall for this?", but there are some vulnerable people out there who do.

I am not an OAP but I almost fell for one of these calls a few years back. It was first thing in the morning and I was on some strong drugs.
They wanted to get access to my PC. I eventually hung up and phoned my brother as, by this point, I was very confused.
These days my phone can block calls but they keep changing the numbers that they phone from.
