You need to register a domain name, then get an Internet Service Provider to host it.

Suppose your company name was MYSHOES. You can register a domain name of www.myshoes.co.uk, or www.myshoes.com and so on (assuming no one else has it already).

You then need to find an ISP to host that site. Once it is set up, then you can see all the mail sent to [email protected]

You could also set up [email protected], [email protected] and so on.

Part 2 of 2

There are hundreds of ISPs. For example I have a web site with http://www.netcetera.co.uk/

These companies will help you create the domain name, and then host the site for you.

Creating a domain name is easy. Most ISPs provide a web page were you can do it, and you do not need to talk to anyone, just do it online.

Price varies but a CO.UK or COM site can cost between 5 and 10 pounds for 2 years. This is owned by YOU, not the ISP, the ISP just help you to create it.

You then have to tell the ISP you want them to host it for you (any ISP can host it, not just the one you created it with).

I have a basic one that costs me 60.00 for a year.

The ISP will provide various tools to help you manage the site and add new e-mail addresses.

You can then create a web site and anyone going to www.myshoes.co.uk will see it.

Even if you do not create a web site, you can still see all the mail sent to [email protected]

Note "anything" is literally anything. A site will have a catchall address so any email sent to myshoes.co.uk will go into an email "bucket".

Of course you can also create individual email accounts so each person can have a unique email address.

Good luck

vehelpfulguy thankyou for a very concise and vehelpful answer.

He won't need a website just an email addy ...

Even if he doesn't need the website, the domain name (in my case stevie21.com) is something that can be used for
1. a website
and
2. personalised email addresses.

If you have no desire to have the website, just buy the domain and shop around for an email hosting package.

If he is employed by "placeofwork", they probably own www.placeofwork.co.uk or similar. If this is the case, his best bet is to contact his superior and ask who in the firm can set up an email account for him. (Some companies only allow certain employees to have accounts).

Another option would be to set up a hotmail (or similar) account along the lines of [email protected].

I use Lets Get Personal and I've bought quite a few personal emails for my family and friends for this Christmas. Brilliant idea if you're struggling for presents this year.
