Tv Picture Pixellating And Loss Of Signal
5 Answers
I have a fairly new Samsung tv (about 3 years old). In the last couple of weeks the picture has been pixelating especially on the HD channels and eventually giving a blank screen with the message 'no signal'. We have replaced the aerial, the coax cable and moved any possible objects which may interfere with the signal away from the tv. At a loss as to what to do now. Any ideas?

It is possible that the pre-amp in either the TV set, or box, is down. Again you say "the HD channels are suffering the most. Again are you using HDMI leads to the TV and if so from what?
Hmmm. You must make sure that the TV aerial is aligned properly with the signal source and, very important, with co-axial lead make sure that none of the copper braiding is coming into contact with the solid inner core at the aerial end, co-ax plug end, or in any subsequent junction boxes. Also are you sure that the TV is tuned into the strongest signal source and not picking up from a weaker signal source?
Just a follow up Budlet, I will be off out soon, but if you find that all is definitely in order with your aerial, and that the TV is in fact tuned in correctly(possibly by trying another TV set) then it may well be as I said the TV pre-amp is down. This pre-amp converts a weak(from aerial) signal into a stronger noise free signal that can be processed and is located in the TV tuner. It is not something that is easily replaced unless you have electronics repair skills, but the tuner, as a unit, is a relatively easy swap. You will probably be able to source one if you know the exact TV model.
