Sir Montagu Gilbert Gerard 1842-1905.
Can anyone help me to find the descendants of Lt. Gen Sir Montagu Gilbert Gerard, please ?
I have a finely bound copy of his book ' Leaves From the Diaries of a Soldier and Sportsman During Twenty Years Service in India Afghanistan Egypt and Other Countries 1865-1885' published in 1903 and inside are some notes written in 1908 by someone signed 'Ducie' who accompanied Gen. Gerard and his wife on their travels during 1900. The notes contain some details which might be of interest to Sir Montagu's descendants and I would like to let them have the book if they so wish.
I have all the details of his life etc but cannot find any lead to his present family line.
Many thanks.

According to this information they had one son.

But that would prove to be a dead end https:/

Good luck
Thanks so much for your efforts, Wolfy. Yes, it seems to be a dead end in both senses !
However, I've discovered that ' Ducie' was the 3rd Earl of Ducie and the family still exists in the UK, and as the book seems to come from the Ducie library I am going to offer to return it to its family home. A happy ending ?
Thanks again.
