Connecting A Second Tv

Any suggestions regarding connecting a second tv when I have no aerial or sky dish in order to connect either Freesat or Freeview. My mail tv is in my lounge and the additional tv will be in a bedroom directly above. Years ago I used a system using a transmitter / receiver which was unsatisfactory due to a wall between the two tv’s.

If your TV signal is relatively strong, you could use an amplified indoor aerial.

I have used this one with some success for both my universities.

It would probably need to be on an outside wall or window, with a powerpoint nearby to plug it in.

You are more likely to be successful if it is on the side of the house nearest to the transmitter, if you can find out where that is.

Unfortunately the signal strength in my area is extremely poor and external rooftop aerials are not permitted in my area. I was wondering if a video transmitter fitted to scart outlet of my sky box in lounge and receiver fitted to scart input of second tv in first floor bedroom would work. It is only a wooden floor between ( not a brick wall). Your opinion please.

Telboy perhaps your best bet is a av transmitter/receiver. Make sure it has the magic eye capability that allows you to change channel on the box from your bedroom. 5.8ghz units are better than the 2.4ghz units as they are less prone to interference and give better range.

I use one of these in the kitchen but it appears to be unavailable from Amazon. Perhaps Maplin are still selling them.

Ta Telboy. Just a tip I am not sure that the unit that I flagged up to you includes the av leads(yellow, red, white)that you will need to connect them to your box and tv. Some av leads have scart connections to connect to the units and some have standard av terminals if your box and tv support them. You probably like most of us have them lying around somewhere any way. Hope it works ok if you go down that route. You may have a bit of direction finding to do with the sender and receiver.
