Remote For Dvd Player

I bought a cheap DVD player from argos(£30)it’s working fine but the remote is rubbish I didn’t see the remote when I bought the player I have to go almost touching the player before the remote kicks in and yes I put new batteries in is there a remote that be like universal for the dvd the television? thanks for any input it’s a Bush DVD player

Theoreticall y you might be able to use a universal remote control which is designed primarily for TV use but . . . (a) you'd need to find the code for your DVD player (which isn't coming up on the first few sites I've checked) ; and (b) you'd almost certainly find that there were some functions on the player for which there appeared to be no relevant key on the remote...

(a) you'd need to find the code for your DVD player (which isn't coming up on the first few sites I've checked) ; and
(b) you'd almost certainly find that there were some functions on the player for which there appeared to be no relevant key on the remote control.
The Bush brand name is actually owned by Argos these days, so it's Argos Technical Support who handle problems with Bush devices. Give them a call on 0345 604 0105 to see if they can help. (Calls are charged at the same rate as 01 or 02 numbers, from both landlines and mobiles. If you've got an 'included calls' package it will thus be free. Lines are open until 7pm tonight and from 10am to 4pm tomorrow).
Otherwise your best bet might be to try a direct replacement for the remote control (rather than a universal one):
