Hmrc .. Scam Or Not ..?

Just received this text ... the only way I have ever received a tax rebate is through a refund in my wages. They want to know your credit card details to give you your taax return.
Copying the link and searching on another device I get the rather genuine looking page to claim my rebate on.
My guess is it's a scam, what do you think ..?

One piece of information which caught my eye and suggested that it is "dubious to the say the least . . ."

Not providing a . . . Driving License number, may delay the process

At skool (sic), I was taught that "license" is the verb and "licence" is the noun.

Why provide a link, even if it doesn't work, to a suspected Scam?

You can see why people are easily scammed when you see how convincing the layout of the form appears.

Sadly no refund for me though .. all I do is pay tax galore.
Have forwarded it onto the real HMRC phishing dept.

Getting as far as looking at the form can have consequences. If you’re in doubt as to whether it’s a scam, copy and past the message into Google or Bing followed by the word scam. Although in this case, I would have hoped common sense would have come to the fore.

The first question to ask is have you ever given the tax people your phone number.

If not then you know straight away it is scam.

The problem is even the brightest of us can be fooled by what appear to be genuine sites. When I bought my latest laptop a few months back I tried to log into my bank account. It would not accept my userid even though I knew it was correct. Instead it directed me to another page which said that their procedure had changed. I was to provide my social security number (which doesn't exist in this country as far as I am aware), my password and my PIN. It was the pin which gave the game away as I then realised I had landed on a dodgy website. What I had done, as it was a brand new computer so I didn't have a bookmark, was to google the bank. It looks as though rogue sites appear at the top of the list.
