I've ceased recommending Malwarebytes Anti-Malware because
(a) you're now forced into taking a free trial of the Premium version ; and
(b) that version seems to slow some computers down.

However Malwarebytes bought up a rival product which, because it's now out of the same stable as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, is every bit as good as it but doesn't get you involved in any trial periods. It's called AdwCleaner:

thanks to both for answers. i do have it on my laptop but it is for my friend. She has somehow got TROVI adware and cannot get rid so thought that might help.

It is easy enough to turn off Premium and switch to the free one.

Select Settings then My Account and select the free version.

You can do this right after you install it.

Easy.

i clicked this link and thought i downloaded adwcleaner but i now cannot find it ????

Buen, I have just uninstalled Malware Byes and installed AdwCleaner I have done a scan and asked it to clean the PUPs.

Now though, I don't have anything on my desktop. The Malwarebyes icon has gone but I don't have an AdwCleaner one. How do I find it when I need it?

i had the same problem but go to where you downloaded it to then drag the icon it to desktop ....mine was in downloads folder

If you'd already got the free version of Malwarebytes you didn't need to uninstall it. (Indeed, by following Guilbert53's suggestion, you didn't need to even if you'd got the free trial version). However what you've done won't do any harm.

AdwCleaner should be available by clicking the Start button and looking under 'All Programs'. (You might need to click on a folder name to find it).

Once you've found it, you can create a desktop shortcut for it by RIGHT-clicking on the Start menu entry and selecting 'Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut)'

It's not in my All Programmes list. What do you mean by click on a folder name?

go to your downloads folder it will be there ...as chris says right click it to make a shortcut to desk top or like me i dragged from folder to desktop where now the icon is

voltage where do i find download folder? If its this pc downloads nothing there

Click the Start button.

Type 'adwcleaner' in the box. (Actually just the first few letters should be enough).

Look above the box. You should see the program listed there.

RIGHT-click on it and select 'Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut)'

if its not there you may have to download it again
