Digital Signals
I often wonder how digital signals work and how after they are received from thin air from apperently a series of '0's and '1's how they are actually converted to run down a length of cable.
Does anyone have an idiots explanation to digital signals??

Closing the switch and supplying the current to the cable (for a pre-determined length of time) is a 1, no current (for a pre-determined length of time) is a 0.
Same with fibre optics. A flash of light is a 1, no light is a 0.
Digital radio uses the FM carrier wave to generate a voltage, or a series of ons and offs, within the receiver circuit.
